The material research division focuses on small-scale manufacturing of tools and home goods.

We use 3D printing, which allows us to iterate quickly and manufacture with extremely low waste.

Our products are open source and designed to be easily printable and modifiable by anyone. If you would like to support our work, or don’t have easy access to a printer, they are avaliable for purchase on this website :-)

Our first product, the SOUP WDT, is an iteration on the planetary distribution tool for espresso. We have improved the ease-of-use, ergenomic, and speed of existing WDT tools. The SOUP builds off of concepts introduced by the terrific Umikot tool by redfoxdude.
